Kristy Rhoades is a Speech Pathologist who has a passion for connecting with clients; helping them to build their communication abilities, so they can relate meaningfully with others. 

 

Education: Kristy graduated from the University of Queensland in 1996 with First Class Honors in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Work Experience: Kristy initially worked in rural NSW in hospital and community settings with adults with communication and vocal difficulties. Kristy then worked for 4 years in acute and rehabilitation hospitals in the UK; focusing on voice, communication and swallowing. On returning to Australia, she worked for Education Queensland and Child and Youth Mental Health on the Gold Coast with children and adolescents with speech language and social and emotional challenges.

Kristy has worked in private practice since 2004 and is now focusing on areas of her special interests and skills including Voice; Speech, Language, Social Communication and Literacy.

Kristy is a Certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia and is an active member of special interest groups both internationally and in Australia.

Her training includes, but is not limited to:

Speech, language and social communication: Hanen: It takes two to talk; More than Words; PROMPT; Braidy the Story Braid Narrative Development; Social Thinking with multiple workshops completed with Michelle-Garnier Winner in Australia and online.

Literacy: Sounds-Write

Kristy welcomes working with individuals from gender and neurodiverse backgrounds. She enjoys being creative in building resilience and strength by using individuals unique abilities to connect in home, school, social and work environments.

Kristy is passionate about creating a comfortable; joyful; relaxed environment to help individuals connect , communicate and relate.

Kristy now resides in Burleigh Heads with her two beautiful daughters and husband.  She has a committed personal interest in yoga, meditation and nature. She continually works on the happy synergy between family, self, work, home and community.
